Chapter 93 1.5x
Chapter 93 1.5x
2019 12 Month 28 Day.
The third round of improvements is complete.
The cleaning and recoating of the furnace interior of Furnace No. 2 was completed the day before Christmas. Huang Zhihua's team did not take a holiday. Zhao Jiancheng gave all the engineers involved double pay for working overtime during the holiday.
On December 26, Furnace No. 2 was powered on again. Calibration took eight hours—two hours longer than the first round—because the new coating required a longer stabilization time.
On December 27, the third round of full-process trial production was launched.
At 12 p.m. on December 28, the first batch of samples entered the low-temperature testing platform.
At 5 p.m., Huang Zhihua came out of the testing room.
He didn't walk fast today. He walked slowly. There was something in his eyes that Su Chen had never seen in him before.
He placed the data sheet in front of Su Chen.
"0.07 degrees per hour."
Everyone looked at Su Chen.
0.07 divided by Bosch's 0.05 equals 1.4.
1.4 times that of Bosch.
Even Su Chen himself was momentarily surprised. The optimal result he simulated in the virtual environment was 1.5 times. The actual result was 1.4 times.
Reality is better than virtual.
The reason might be that the furnace coating material actually bonded better in actual use than the virtual model predicted—this occasionally happens during process improvements. It doesn't always happen. But this time it did.
One and a half times. Not only does it meet the standard—it exceeds it.
Zhao Jiancheng stood there. His hands were at his sides. His eyes were moving.
Huang Zhihua stood next to Su Chen. He spoke. His voice was different from usual—usually his voice was dry, harsh, and piercing. Now it was soft.
"Eleven days of observation. Three rounds of improvements. Reduced from five times to 1.4 times."
He paused for a moment.
"Mr. Su, I've been in this industry for fifteen years. I've never seen such speed. I won't ask how you did it. I'll just say one thing—I'm impressed."
These two words came out of Huang Zhihua's mouth softly, but they carried great weight.
Lin Shiming slowly stood up from the corner. He didn't speak. He simply nodded to Su Chen once. Then he extended his hand.
Su Chen grasped the old man's hand.
That night, Su Chen returned to the hotel. He didn't call Zhou Ming immediately. He sat for five minutes first.
The view outside the window is the night scene of Wuxi at the end of December. People are hanging colorful lights in the windows of the apartment building across the street. There are only three days left until the New Year.
He picked up the phone.
"Old Zhou, the results of the third round of micro-sensitivity testing are in. The low-temperature temperature drift has dropped to 1.4 times Bosch's level. It exceeds the standard."
There was a three-second silence on the other end of the phone.
"1.4 times? Wasn't the target 1.5 times?"
"Real-world running is a little better than simulation."
Zhou Ming was silent for two seconds. Then he laughed. Su Chen rarely heard Zhou Ming laugh.
"Mr. Su, while you were in Wuxi for the past month, we in Shenzhen haven't been idle either. The Southern Power Grid contract has passed the final approval stage. The official contract will be signed on January 2nd. The contract amount is 25 million."
Su Chen closed his eyes briefly.
The China Southern Power Grid contract has been finalized. It's worth 25 million.
This means that Hongyuan's cash reserves will recover from the current tight situation of just over one million to more than 26 million in one go.
This also means that Hongyuan's industrial-grade business—from concept to prototype to scenario verification to formal contract—has completed the entire closed loop in three and a half years.
Su Chen opened his eyes.
"Any other news?"
"Wu Zheng's non-compete cooling-off period expires next month. Fang Xu said that Haotai shows no signs of pursuing further action."
"Because they already knew that pursuing legal action would be fruitless. Lianchuang's purchasing volume weakened their bargaining power."
"Yes. Also, Xu Lang's non-compete cooling-off period expired in March. He asked you if your formal employment agreement still stands."
"Yes. Starting in March, Xu Lang will officially serve as COO. Let President Zhou discuss the specific terms with her."
"clear."
Su Chen hung up the phone.
He walked to the window.
In the late December night sky over Wuxi, there were glimpses of fireworks in the distance. Someone had set them off ahead of time.
2019 is coming to an end.
He mentally tallied it up.
The wall—the wall of sensors—has stood since he wrote that word on a blank sheet of paper in July. Until today.
The ladder is finished.
Level 1 – Zheng's OEM factory's PCBA production line. September.
Level Two – The Micro-Sensing Cooperation Agreement. October.
Level Three – First Round of Process Improvements. Mid-December.
Level 4 – Second round of process improvements. Late December.
Level 5 – Third round of process improvement. Today.
1.4 times. Exceeds the limit.
MicroSense can now serve as insurance in Hongyuan's sensor supply chain. In the event of a supply disruption or price discrepancy by Bosch or any other supplier, Hongyuan can switch to MicroSense's IMU within four weeks. Performance meets requirements.
The wall is no longer a wall.
Three days later is January 1, 2020.
The first day of the new year.
Su Chen woke up in his hotel room in Wuxi. He hadn't attended any New Year's Eve activities last night. In his hotel room, he compiled all his notes from the past month of observation into a complete report. On the last page of the report, he wrote a sentence:
"The low-temperature drift performance of the drone-grade IMU has reached 1.4 times that of the Bosch BMI088. The performance target (above 75 points) has been exceeded. We recommend initiating the formal procurement process."
He sent the report to Zhou Ming, Fang Xu, Wu Zheng, Zhang Lei, Liu Yu, Meng Xiaoying, and Xu Lang.
Then he opened his suitcase and started packing. His flight back to Shenzhen was this afternoon.
Come back home.
2020 has begun. Many things await him: the signing of the Southern Power Grid contract; the formal procurement of Microsensors; small-scale testing of F5; Xu Lang's official joining the company; and the industry promotion of the SDK Level 4 licensing standard.
And flight control is always the core of everything.
