Chapter 221 Black Adam: Who can electrocute me?
"Run! Run!"
I am Billy Batson.
I've got everything wrong.
I don't understand who I am, nor do I understand what I can become.
Look at all that's happening around me these days... I thought this was a dream come true, a fantasy story.
After all, there's no shortage of monsters in this world, is there? There's even a knight, the Dark Knight.
I thought this would be a journey of bravery or a hero's adventure. But perhaps it's all an illusion, just like gaining the power of thunder by shouting.
I began to doubt that my dream had come true at all, but that I was trapped in a nightmare.
Dr. Phil might be right; becoming a superhero means witnessing real darkness... not some childish game of trickery.
This is the first time in my life I've ever seen a dead person.
Black Adam lifted him up and then slammed him to the ground.
Very hard.
The ground was littered with bone fragments and blood, just like the scarecrow toy Dr. Phil had shown me before.
If you bend it forcefully, it will gradually twist, and then eventually...
Torn apart.
That's not cool at all.
Look, in the short time I've been a superhero like Shazam, I've met a lot of people.
Killer Croc once told me that being Robin was the happiest thing in his life.
Ivy said she has saved tens of thousands of plants and has a fulfilling life every day.
I also met Mudface, who impersonated my homeroom teacher and taught us four days of nonsensical classes. If he hadn't been stuffed into the closet and the real homeroom teacher, who was nearly starving to death, hadn't been discovered, he might have been able to keep up the act for much longer.
He said being Robin was "fucked to death!"
Don't get me wrong, these are his exact words.
But I don't think I'm ready to accept these things yet.
At least not now.
"Aaaaaaaahh ...
Billy, fleeing desperately in his Shazam form, finally found Batman's approximate location by following the locator on his hand, after crossing highways and forests.
Although it's unclear why Batman made this thing so heavy and cumbersome, like a small brick, and with a fully metallic casing that facilitates electrical conductivity, thankfully he didn't slack off because of it, but instead always carried this thing with him, which saved his life.
"Aaaaaah!!!!!" A bolt of lightning struck Shazam, sending him flying through the air and crashing face-first to the ground, before he quickly took flight again.
"That spell, that spell... how was that spell pronounced again?!"
"Ah, I remember now!"
Shazam spread his arms wide, aiming at Black Adam who was still wielding lightning and striking downwards, and loudly chanted a heavily mixed incantation: "Thunderbolt, lightning, begone!"
With a loud bang, there it was—
It had absolutely no effect.
"You actually tried to use magic against me?" Lightning crackled in Black Adam's eyes, and a larger, thicker current instantly blasted a deep crater into the spot where Billy had just been lying. "You dared to try using magic in front of me?"
"You're nothing but a coward, worthless!"
Billy covered his head and ran away like a rat.
"I control magic! I control lightning!"
The enraged Black Adam stood suspended in mid-air, displaying the power that a magic user should possess:
"No one in this world has yet been born who can strike me with lightning!"
He raised his hands high, and slammed them into the ground with plasma that was almost solidified, instantly turning the surrounding trees into charred remains. A fierce wildfire erupted, and Black Adam, who stepped out of the flames, looked like a demon with a ferocious expression.
"The new magic guardian... he made a huge mistake in choosing you. I said you are not worthy to use this power; you simply do not understand what this power truly means."
He walked up to Shazam, whose eyes had rolled back and who had collapsed to the ground.
"You simply don't understand what I was willing to do to free this world from those who enslaved him. I even killed my nephew; I sacrificed him for Kandak's freedom."
Shazam outwardly retreated in despair, but inwardly he was secretly calculating the distance.
"Now your blood will help me liberate the whole world."
Black Adam walked up to Billy.
"I must obtain the power of Eternal Stone Fortress; I must once again become the mage's sole guardian."
He collapsed to the ground, completely unconscious!
Shazam swung his fist, ready to strike, and slammed it down on Black Adam's forehead. This unexpected punch sent Black Adam flying backward.
"Despicable!" he cursed. "A shameless sneak attack!"
"Batman taught me this!" Billy, in his Shazam form, turned and ran. "This stuff is way better than magic!"
But the next moment, he was horrified to see Black Adam reappear before him.
"Your tricks are useless."
Shazam tried to fight back, but the next second he was punched in the face, the sonic boom of the fist making his head buzz. Black Adam grabbed him by the neck: "Recite the incantation and hand over the power of living lightning!"
"You...you want him that much?"
Shazam gritted his teeth: "Shazam!"
With a loud bang, a bolt of lightning struck the two of them, sending Black Adam flying backward.
Reverting to his child form, Billy ran on all fours, yelling, "Help! Batman!"
"Shazam!" Another bolt of lightning struck him, and Billy transformed back into an adult. He felt sore and aching all over and collapsed to the ground.
He had just put all his effort into trying to summon a transformed lightning bolt to strike Black Adam away and help him escape danger. Therefore, this transformed lightning bolt was more aggressive than usual. Although it attacked Black Adam, it also injured himself, who was standing next to him at the time. Being injured by one's own spell sounds ridiculous, but it is a process that almost every magic beginner goes through.
Not far away, Black Adam, who had been knocked away, got up from the ground: "Not that spell, you idiot! I want you to give me the power of living lightning, not just a simple transformation!"
Billy struggled to get up from the ground.
But just then, he heard a familiar voice.
"Who's calling Batman?"
"I don't know, you must be hallucinating, Killer Croc... um, I mean Robin... Marco, you've expanded the smoke area too much, that's enough, there's no need to make it any bigger."
"Add more lead powder, kid. We're working, not playing! Stop using your air-walking shoes. I'll make some more buckets with ice..."
"Hurry—help me!!! Killer Croc, Robin!!! Help me, I'm Shazam!"
Killer Croc and Weather Wizard exchanged a glance. Weather Wizard took the lead, creating a whirlwind beneath his feet and carrying Killer Croc over.
He asked the large green crocodile succinctly, "Which one should I attack?"
"Black."
The weather wizard raised his staff, which appeared to be a magic wand but was actually just an ordinary wooden stick:
"Thunderous explosion!"
boom!
A bolt of lightning struck Black Adam's feet immediately. If he hadn't dodged quickly, he would have been electrocuted on the spot.
"Your henchmen again? Foolish lot..." Black Adam's eyes flashed with lightning as he spread his arms wide at the weather wizard who continued waving his "wand": "You dare use lightning against me? Watch closely, you fool, this is the true way to use a spell!"
Black Adam bravely faced the weather wizard waving his wand, loudly chanting the heavily mixed incantation Billy had just used: "Breaking Thunder! Lightning, begone!"
He was very confident in his magic and had no intention of underestimating anyone. However, although the weather wizard was also dressed as a mage, he was certain that the other party's skill in lightning magic was definitely not superior to his own.
Therefore, he simply stood there and recited the reverse incantation without even trying to dodge.
Boom!
With a deafening roar of thunder, a bolt of lightning as thick as a bowl instantly engulfed Black Adam, scorching him until he was convulsing uncontrollably.
"What..." His eyes were unfocused, but more than the physical pain, he felt disbelief.
"What?" The Weather Wizard was also taken aback. In all his years of fighting against the Speedster, his lightning had never struck the opponent. On the few occasions when it did hit him head-on, it actually charged the opponent. So now he was basically used to starting with lightning as a skill to block movement, then followed by a blizzard to suppress the area, and then summoning hail and meteor shower.
But this was the first time in so many years that someone had been so brave as to take his lightning bolt directly in their face.
So, instinctively, he unleashed another bolt of lightning.
Black Adam remained unconvinced. He raised his hand, now blackened by electricity, and chanted a heavily mixed incantation at the top of his lungs: "Thunderbolts, lightning, retreat!"
boom!
Looking at Black Adam, who was convulsing from the electric shocks not far away, the Weather Wizard asked innocently, "What nonsense is this? What happened?"
"Impossible! What kind of curse is 'Thunder Explosion'? He couldn't possibly be unaffected by the counter-curse!"
Black Adam was going crazy; this completely violated his knowledge of magic.
"Actually, I just said it offhand..." the weather wizard said somewhat guiltily.
"Hey Marco, don't get distracted! The fog's starting to lift, you need to keep it up!"
The heatwave's voice came from behind: "The hot air can't blow up anymore, you need to hurry and push it up. It's cold, make some more ice, and we'll create some more steam—why am I the only one working now?"
Captain Han Han, who was engrossed in watching the show from the sidelines, quickly ran over to help Re Lang.
Weather that defies seasonal and scientific common sense will inevitably come at a price, and will collapse immediately if not controlled in real time.
"Never mind that, Killer Croc, where's Batman? Hurry, we need him!"
Billy was not fooled by the weather wizard's apparent ability to make Black Adam stupid with just two blows.
With Black Adam's speed, dodging these lightning bolts wouldn't have been difficult. He just got stubborn and insisted on testing whether his magic counterspell could counter the weather wizard's superpowers, which is why he was struck and torn to pieces.
Billy grabbed Killer Croc by the collar: "Where's Batman? We need him!"
"Ah, Batman is in the fog, but actually..."
Before Killer Croc could finish speaking, Billy soared into the sky with his locator and disappeared into the fog.
"Fuck, but... let me finish!"
Killer Croc shouted from behind, but Billy ignored him. Seeing that his opponent had run away, Black Adam finally had no choice but to give up his struggle against Lightning.
He glared at the innocent-looking weather wizard standing beside him, then flew after Billy, shouting, "You can't escape, magic guardian!"
"Pah! Don't think you can be so arrogant for long!"
Billy yelled, "Batman, help!"
After passing through the thick fog, Billy soon spotted Batman's figure.
Huh, that's strange. Why is there a huge monster with horns on its head standing next to him?
It's alright, it's probably just another one of Batman's new henchmen.
Billy rushed straight to the other man: "Batman, save me!"
Black Adam, following closely behind, kept a close eye on his opponent. He'd heard Billy constantly mention Batman, Batman, all the way here; his ears were practically calloused. The other man's appearance was easily recognizable: pointed ears, and he looked like a bat, didn't he?
Is this what the other side has always relied on and been confident about?
He understood. He wouldn't make the same mistake as the Weather Wizard, letting the opponent make the first move. Since the opponent was an enemy after all, he would just use electricity first, regardless of the consequences.
So, he struck the mechanical superman on the head before he could react, startling the Steppenwolf behind him who was about to swing his axe.
Steppenwolf: ! ...?
The four people present looked at each other, none of them really understood the situation.
