Chapter 584 Investigation
Chapter 584 Investigation
A-Que opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but A-Ying gently tugged at her sleeve.
A-Que reluctantly said "Oh" and followed A-Ying out of the office.
Su Wan withdrew her gaze and looked at Lin Feng: "Let's go."
........................
The door to the archives room closed behind me, the latch clicking shut.
Su Wan leaned against the door, tilting her head to look at Lin Feng with a scrutinizing gaze that was hard to define.
"You seem to care a lot about Evelyn."
Lin Feng had just reached the table when he heard this and turned around:
"It's just normal concern between teammates. What, are you jealous?"
Su Wan curled her lip, crossed her arms, and gave a soft snort:
"I don't mean it. But if you're really interested, I could try to set you up."
Lin Feng chuckled and took out a bag of beef jerky from his spatial storage:
"No need. Seven days a week, now I at least need one day to catch my breath. If another one comes, I'll die young sooner or later."
Su Wan's tightly pursed lips finally couldn't help but curve into a smile: "You're such a smooth talker."
Lin Feng tore open the package of beef jerky, picked up a piece, and handed it to her: "Here, as promised, this is payment in kind."
Su Wan paused for a moment, looked down at the greasy beef jerky, and then burst out laughing:
"You're getting better and better at pretending to be ignorant, aren't you?"
Lin Feng also popped a piece into his mouth, chewed it a couple of times, and his eyes brightened:
"Mmm, this beef jerky is really delicious, you should try some."
He picked up another piece and handed it over.
Su Wan's gaze fell on his lips, her voice carrying a hint of lazy playfulness: "Feed me with your mouth, and I'll eat."
Lin Feng gave him a "I can't do anything with you" look, put the beef jerky to his lips, and leaned in slightly.
Su Wan smiled and came forward to take the beef jerky into her mouth, then hooked her arms around his neck, turning the action into a warm kiss with the salty aroma of beef jerky.
After a long while, Su Wan reluctantly parted ways, a thin strand of saliva trailing from the corner of her mouth. She raised her hand and wiped her lips with her fingertips, her breathing slightly disordered.
"Alright, let's get down to business." She cleared her throat, released Lin Feng's wrist, and turned to walk to the row of metal cabinets at the back of the archives.
The cabinet door creaked open with a long, thin sound. She bent over and rummaged through it for a while before pulling out a roll of blueprints from the third drawer.
"This is the infrastructure archive of Yongshan Hospital. It was drawn five years ago, but the main structure of the building has not been changed. It is sufficient."
Su Wan spread the drawings out on the table, revealing a colorful floor plan about one meter wide, with the building outline, passageway layout, stairwells, and equipment shafts clearly marked.
The two of them approached the picture from either side.
Su Wan reached into the pen holder and pulled out a red pencil, twirling it gently between her fingers until the tip hovered above the drawing.
"The location of Amansa's core mainframe will never be made public."
She touched the pen tip at three different locations in turn, and then drew a circle at each location.
"First, the water tower."
"The highest point in the entire hospital, with no dead zones in signal coverage."
"Second, abandon the isolation wards."
"Even the cleaners don't go near this place. The more dangerous the place, the less people dare to explore it. For Amansa, it's the perfect hiding place."
Third, the VR classroom is located underground.
"The complete set of line equipment here is readily available, which is a unique advantage. If the core computing power is insufficient, Amansa can extract all the equipment in the data center for collaborative computing, which is extremely discreet."
Lin Feng nodded: "Then, the next step is to verify them one by one through deduction."
Su Wan responded and gently closed her eyes.
Lin Feng also closed his eyes, his mind sinking into his sea of consciousness, and the gray-white deduction space silently unfolded beneath their feet.
Su Wan opened her eyes: "Let's go to the water tower first."
Lin Feng grasped her hand, a thought flashing through his mind.
The gray-white space distorted for a moment like ripples on water, and the next second, the two were already standing under the water tower.
The tower is about fifteen meters high, and its gray-green concrete surface is covered with a layer of mottled moss.
Lin Feng took out an infrared thermal imager from his spatial storage and scanned the tower.
The temperature difference displayed on the screen is normal—slightly higher at the top and slightly lower at the bottom, which is consistent with the physical characteristics of the water storage structure, and there are no abnormal heat points.
"The infrared detector doesn't show any problems." He put down the equipment.
Su Wan's S-level perception extended into the tower like invisible tentacles for a moment, then she shook her head:
"The exterior walls are made of special materials that cannot be penetrated by sensors."
She looked up at the maintenance cover at the top of the tower: "I'll go to the top and open the cover to take a look."
Lin Feng reached out to stop her: "Don't touch the cover yet, lest we alert them. I have a plan."
With a flick of his wrist, he summoned a semi-transparent, viscous substance from the space.
Su Wan tilted her head and glanced at it, raising an eyebrow: "What is this? Why do you have all sorts of strange things in your space?"
Lin Feng smiled and said, "You can call it Little Softie. It's a low-level monster, and it's good at squeezing through crevices and finding its way. Send it up."
Su Wan nodded, raised her hand and condensed a ball of black energy, like an invisible palm, which gently lifted the water stain and steadily placed it on top of the water tower.
The water stains clung to the edge of the maintenance cover for a few moments, then silently seeped in through the extremely narrow gap between the cover and the tower.
About a minute later, the water-stained ghost crawled out of the crack again and slowly slid down the outer wall of the tower.
Su Wan manipulated the black energy to lift it back in front of Lin Feng.
Lin Feng squatted down, looked at the water stains, and asked slyly, "How is it?"
The water stain spread out at his feet and shook gently twice—the message it conveyed was clear: it was full of water, no equipment, no main unit, nothing at all.
Lin Feng straightened up and raised his hand to put the water stain back into his spatial storage: "Eliminated, next."
The second stop was an abandoned isolation ward.
The two cautiously stepped inside, carefully exploring their way in, until they arrived once again outside the spore chamber.
During yesterday's simulation, their reckless intrusion directly triggered Amansa's cleanup process.
Having learned from their previous experience, the two did not rush to open the door this time, but stopped outside first.
Su Wan focused her mind, closed her eyes, and unleashed her S-level perception at full power. Invisible tendrils spread inward through the gaps in the iron gate.
A moment later she opened her eyes, her brow furrowing:
"Something's not right. There's a huge hollow space beneath this isolation room."
Lin Feng immediately bent down and began to carefully examine the base of the wall.
Su Wan then went around to the other side, searching for traces of the entrance by staying close to the ground.
The two spent nearly ten minutes searching every inch of the walls and every piece of the ground around the room, but found nothing.
"We can't find an entrance on the outside." Lin Feng stood up, brushing the dust off his palms. "The only entrance should be inside the isolation room."
The two looked at each other and fell silent.
The entrance is inside, but as soon as someone steps into the isolation room, Amansa's monitoring mechanism will instantly lock onto the intruder, close the door, release spores, and complete the entire elimination process in one go.
He had experienced it yesterday; the suffocating feeling of having his breath blocked by poisonous spores was still fresh in his memory…
