Chapter 674: The Sun God Without Weapons
Chapter 674: The Sun God Without Weapons
The collision over the ice sheet intensified further.
Luffy unleashed wave after wave of massive fists. White flames, carrying kinetic energy, bombarded the dark gold barrier. Cracks spread. Shards of ice shot out. He withdrew his fist and slammed it down again. The power of the earth surged. The cracks instantly healed. An impenetrable wall of despair and death stood.
A more deadly edge lies hidden behind the wall.
Which sword of the law?
The offensive paused slightly. In a split second, the Sword of the Codex lashed out like a venomous snake, its dark gold tip slicing through the air. Without a sound. A bone-chilling coldness penetrated first. Luffy's rubber body contorted, his waist twisting into a bizarre arc, avoiding the fatal blow. He stretched his body to its limit and sprang back. Each dodge ignited his stamina reserves. New wounds appeared as his flesh tore open.
The dark gold sword light swept past his right ribs once more.
Luffy groaned. A shallow gash appeared. Black and red law patterns grew wildly along the wound, corroding flesh and blood. He gritted his teeth and stubbornly resisted the retreat. The intense pain stimulated his right arm muscles to bulge. His giant white flame fist slammed down fiercely. The entire dark gold barrier was pushed back more than ten meters.
Im stood firmly in the void. Without trembling.
The barrier was forced back. The Sword of the Codex lay horizontally across his chest. Dark gold patterns rippled and surged on the blade, emanating killing intent. A fist shattered the defense. Power forced even gods back. Yet, that sword firmly blocked the distance between them, an insurmountable abyss.
Luffy didn't back down. He let out a low growl.
Five punches were unleashed in quick succession. The first shattered the barrier. The second pierced through the dust. The third aimed straight for his face. White flames burned through half of the icy plain. Im was forced back more than ten meters by this desperate stance. The barrier beneath his feet crumbled inch by inch.
The fifth punch was about to land. Im slightly twisted his wrist.
The Sword of the Codex slashed out diagonally and cunningly. The dark gold blade arced sharply, trapping Luffy's right arm and creating a dead angle. Luffy twisted his body to the limit. The blade grazed the outside of his forearm with deadly force. Blood splattered.
His knee slammed heavily, shattering the shattered ice. White flames flickered around him before he rose again. Black blood seeped from the wound on his right arm. Black and red lines greedily climbed up his shoulder along his veins. Armament Haki instantly sealed his meridians, suppressing the poison. Luffy looked up, his eyes fixed on the black sword.
Dark gold patterns flowed. The sword tip drooped. A venomous snake flicked its tongue, waiting for the next fatal opening.
In a clash of strength, neither side was at a disadvantage. White flames tore through defenses. Fists suppressed demonic energy. A pure physical battle between the two was absolutely evenly matched.
But Im was holding the sword.
That is a divine artifact that cuts through the laws of spatial erosion.
To touch a sharp blade with bare hands.
Every time Luffy charges forward, he must first use his physical body to wade through the strangulation net of the Codex Sword. The invisible sword energy draws out an absolute blockade, firmly blocking him from that half-step distance.
The shield was smashed to pieces. It was out of reach of anyone.
Forced to retreat. Unable to kill the enemy.
A dead knot.
Ten thousand meters in the sky. Dark clouds churned. Chen Ye stood alone, overlooking the fierce battle on the icy plains. His Observation Haki spread out, locking down every inch of the battlefield.
White flames and demonic energy are mutually exclusive. Power and defense clash. Neither can completely overwhelm the other.
In a state of equilibrium, the sword became the boulder on the scales.
Its attack range far exceeds melee combat. The sword's edge ignores Armament Haki, forcefully cutting through defenses. On both offense and defense, Im always has half a body length ahead.
A god-level deathmatch. Half a body length can decide life or death.
"Luffy suffered because he wasn't armed."
His voice was extremely soft, yet carried immense weight. He pinpointed the most fatal blind spot. A colossal force lacked a conduit for its extension. No matter how hard a fist, it is still flesh and blood. No matter how fierce the white flames, they must reach the target. But Im's sword possessed its own inherent extension of laws.
White flames shot into the sky. Luffy transformed into a blinding white light and pierced through the enemy ranks. His right fist frantically charged up. The giant white flame fist expanded several times its original size and slammed down. The oppressive force tore through the air.
The fist hadn't arrived yet; the sword tip had already struck.
The dark gold blade aimed precisely at his throat, a fatal weakness. Faster than Observation Haki. Pupils contracted. Luffy's bones cracked as he forcefully interrupted his attack, retreating. His giant fist slammed into the ice, creating a hundred-meter-high shockwave. All in vain.
Countless cycles.
Gathering strength. Charging forward. Forced back by the sword's edge.
His fighting spirit burned like fire. He crashed into things, covered in blood, yet still couldn't catch his prey.
Charge again. Change lanes. Side-slash. The Sword of the Codex firmly blocks his position. Three thrusts. Three forced retreats.
For the fourth time, he directly confronted the sword light head-on. White flames protected his body. His fist slammed into Im's face. The sword light brutally sliced through the white light. Long strips of flesh were torn from his ribs.
The fist remained half an inch away from that face.
Half an inch. A natural barrier.
At the edge of the icy pit, Loki, the God of War, sat upright, his tattered armor taut. His broken ribs were embedded deep in his flesh. His breath was thick with blood and foam.
A bare fist.
Loki shattered the ice field with a single punch. The battle-hardened giant saw through the situation. The power was equal. Length gave him an advantage. And his opponent held an eight-hundred-year-old artifact of divine law.
"He has no weapon! Give him a weapon!"
Loki coughed up blood and roared as he tore his throat apart.
The wind and snow swallowed the echo. Tie Lei whirled around, his eyes bloodshot. The giant warrior gritted his teeth. No one could approach that hellish arena. Within a hundred meters, not even ashes would remain. Tie Lei dug his fingernails into his palms, blood dripping onto the snow. His chest felt suffocating, as if it would explode.
"Luffy."
A cruel smile appeared in Im's eyes.
The power is strong enough. The laws of nature restrain it. It's meaningless.
Catching a blade barehanded. Facing the power to cleave space. Never able to cross that half-step.
Five fingers tightened around the sword hilt. The power of the earth surged and filled the blade. Dark gold patterns danced wildly. The sword crushed the surrounding space. An attack erupted. Sword light slashed down like a net, completely blocking all avenues of attack.
The white flame was stripped away. It reignited. Then it was brutally shredded again.
New wounds appeared, skin and flesh torn open. Left arm. Right rib. Thigh. Not fatal. But draining all strength. Black marks, like a malignant tumor clinging to bone, burrowed into the flesh. Pressing down on one end. The other end would break.
Im halted his advance. He shifted to a slow, agonizing pace.
Slice away the flesh and blood of the sun god, piece by piece. Let the white flames dry. Suppress the anomaly into despair.
Purely a matter of dimensional reduction and harvesting.
Luffy gasped for breath. Instead of retreating, he advanced.
They clashed again. Their knuckles were burning hot.
The dark gold blade intercepted precisely on time. Cold. Solid. Half-step into the Heavenly Abyss.
His chest heaved violently. The white flames lingered, barely clinging to life.
Luffy stared intently at the black sword. His fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. He couldn't hold anything in his palms.
I'm missing a suitable weapon.
The East Sea forces their way into the New World. Their fists have crushed countless powerful enemies. Today, however, these bare hands have been forcefully restrained by the laws of the Codex. Their fists have been blocked. Their path has been blocked.
The black sword stabbed again.
He ducked to dodge. His right fist, still wreathed in flames, lashed out at Im's cheek. He parried with a horizontal thrust of his sword's spine. His fist slammed into the cold blade's spine. White and dark gold collided, blasting the air apart. Both were simultaneously thrown back.
Luffy slid back several meters. His lungs heaved with heavy, bellows-like breathing. He lowered his head, staring intently at his fist.
His physical body is intact. His inner strength remains undiminished.
But no matter what, he couldn't get past the half-step sword enclosure.
High in the sky, Chen Ye rapidly descended to the cloud layer at an altitude of three thousand meters.
The Observation Haki gripped the Shura field below tightly.
Charge. Block. Knock back.
Ten times. A hundred times. A meaningless cycle.
Chenye's pupils contracted.
Players should not enter the game. They should observe and deduce, waiting for the outcome. Reaching out to disrupt the board is tantamount to degrading oneself and getting dragged into a deadly situation.
But Luffy is going to die.
Chen Ye raised his right hand. Dark gold energy crackled at his fingertips. He turned his head to look. A lone, sheathed dagger was stuck in the edge of the icy plain, its hilt covered in ice flowers.
Forged from divine iron. Drinking countless cups of blood.
It can withstand a clash of gods. It can withstand high-level domineering aura. Send it over there. Fill that fatal half-step insurmountable barrier.
The right hand hovers in mid-air.
He surrendered his sword. He was fully involved. His cards were on the table. His bottom line was shattered.
If he doesn't hand it over, Luffy will definitely die.
A dull knife cuts flesh. Sooner or later, it will be drained of its last drop of blood.
The white flames suppressed the demonic energy, yet they couldn't withstand the sharp blades of the laws that sliced through space. This god-slaying weapon, formed from eight hundred years of accumulated essence, was specifically created to strangle Nika. Chen Ye watched the crumbling white figure below, his fingertips pulsating with domineering power.
Sacrificing a pawn. A chance to win.
With Luffy dead, the spark of a new era was extinguished. The old order will continue to suppress the world for another eight hundred years. A complete defeat.
Chen Ye had his eyes tightly shut. Then he suddenly opened them.
A fierce wind tore through the rain clouds. Below, Luffy suffered another severe blow. White Flame's life hung by a thread.
Chen Ye flipped his right hand and chopped down.
A burst of dark gold energy erupted from his fingertips. His gaze pierced through three thousand meters of snow and ice, locking onto the sword at the edge of the icy plain.
Click.
The ice layer on the surface of the sword cracked.
He was preparing to give Luffy a suitable weapon.
